//319/ Pre-Spring 2014 Givenchy

Pre-Spring Givenchy Ready-to-wear 2014

//I don't know since when there is such a thing as Pre-Spring- is it just me or is the fashion industry inventing seasons to make more money???? Or are designers overflowing with ideas to the point that they have to invent pre-seasons?? Well, I'm going to go with the latter, because this is pretty damn fantastic. It's a little messed up (pink camo + flowers), a little freaky (Birkenstocks!) and a little crass (pink/red hair), but tastefully so. This is not the kind of creative that is purely looking to attract attention: it's sheer style, tailored and executed well.

//287/ SS2013RTW: Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana Spring-Summer Ready-To-Wear 2013

//Here are some of my favourite looks from the 80-strong Dolce & Gabbana collection. Despite the fact that there were so many different looks (some I haven't included here, such as the horizontal stripes or the ones with lace), Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana managed to maintain a strong brand identity and that is what I love about Dolce & Gabbana. They consistently re-create the Sicilian woman, either lively in colours and prints or regal in black. One could consider this predictable, but I feel as though they manage to innovate in spite of sticking to the same theme.

//Also, this collection is unapologetically spring.While with some spring-summer collections it is difficult to identify the spring in them, this one is so bright and skimpy and simply unmistakably spring.

//More on the collection on OOOK.

//06/ Dress: Chanel 2011: L'Année dernière à Marienbad

Karolina Kurkova

Sophie Srej

Amanda Sanchez

Behati Prinsloo

Rasa Zukauskaite

//My heart skipped a beat when I saw the photographs from Chanel Spring 2011 (yes, luckily, unlike editorials, fashion shows run ahead of the season, so here some spring inspiration from the northern hemisphere). The entire show was inspired by the movie L'Année dernière à Marienbad (Last year in Marienbad) - have a look at stills from the movie, beautiful!!

//To me, Karl Lagerfeld does investment pieces like no other- I can totally see myself still liking these in ten years. I especially love the suits: pure goodness. In other news, take a look at the South African-Namibian beauty Behati Prinsloo! It makes me happy to see someone from our shores doing so well. And then there is Karolina Kurkova who is still one of my favourites..aahh stunning.
