//215/ Streetstyle 031

Jameson Stairs, University of Cape Town

//I love this combination of contrasting textures, the beige blazer and the boots are pretty awesome too...the pin-striped pants? Hmm I can´t say I´m a fan. This girl got a little bored waiting for me to get the right settings and the right photo, so she started fooling around...funny!

//While temperatures have certainly risen in Cape Town, the weather is fickle and it seems as though winter is somewhat reluctant to give way to summer, which makes it almost impossible to dress for the day´s varying temperatures.

//214/ Cape Town: Fresh Food Haven

Earth Fair Food Market, Retreat, Cape Town
& a street vendor at Kottbusser Tor, Kreuzberg, Berlin (last image)

//It warms my heart to see numerous markets popping up around Cape Town, and even better: Capetonians are flocking to them in droves. It is mostly the idea that small-scale producers are gaining some of the market that before mainly belonged to mass-producers- and distributors that appeals so much to me. And whats more, the foods that the markets have to offer are often far fresher and of better quality.

//Some of my favourite markets are (in no particular order): the City Bowl Market on Hope, the Earth Fair Food Market, the Blue Bird Garage Food and Goods Market, the You & Me & Everyone We Know Market and The Old Biscuit Mill. In total, the number of markets in and around Cape Town easily add up to over a fifty... For an (incomplete) listing and description of some of the markets, take a look at Cape Markets.

//The last image I took in Berlin, where fresh food markets are less prevalent than vintage clothing markets, though there are a few well-established vendors (mosre often than not turkish) that sell food around the clock.

//Lastly, thanks to the 300+ that read my blog yesterday, I am super grateful to have such a dedicated readership...

//213/ SS2012: Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear

//Trust Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to present a vivacious, romantic, dramatic and most importantly colourful spring collection, very much capturing the spirit of Italy. While I appreciate the sleek androgyny and understated aesthetic of most of the Slavic, Northern European and New York designers´ collections, the cheerfulness and boldness, the colours and the prints of Dolce & Gabbana seem far more suited to the Capetonian mood and weather. This is truly a celebration of femininity and though it may not be pushing any fashion boundaries it is most certainly easy on the eye.

Jammie Plaza, University of Cape Town

//What beautiful feather earrings! Accessories are something I always under-emphasize, but single strong pieces really do make an outfit.

//209/ SS2012: Altuzarra

Altuzarra SS2012RTW

//Altuzarra had the most spring-like collection to me, with beautiful prints and popping colours, but subtle nonetheless...perfection.

//I am sorry about the silence, but university momentarily took over my life there...from now on it is back to normal posting, I promise.

//Love,
