//214/ Cape Town: Fresh Food Haven

Earth Fair Food Market, Retreat, Cape Town
& a street vendor at Kottbusser Tor, Kreuzberg, Berlin (last image)

//It warms my heart to see numerous markets popping up around Cape Town, and even better: Capetonians are flocking to them in droves. It is mostly the idea that small-scale producers are gaining some of the market that before mainly belonged to mass-producers- and distributors that appeals so much to me. And whats more, the foods that the markets have to offer are often far fresher and of better quality.

//Some of my favourite markets are (in no particular order): the City Bowl Market on Hope, the Earth Fair Food Market, the Blue Bird Garage Food and Goods Market, the You & Me & Everyone We Know Market and The Old Biscuit Mill. In total, the number of markets in and around Cape Town easily add up to over a fifty... For an (incomplete) listing and description of some of the markets, take a look at Cape Markets.

//The last image I took in Berlin, where fresh food markets are less prevalent than vintage clothing markets, though there are a few well-established vendors (mosre often than not turkish) that sell food around the clock.

//Lastly, thanks to the 300+ that read my blog yesterday, I am super grateful to have such a dedicated readership...
