//270/ Outfit 016

Dress: Haute Hippie Silk-Georgette and Lace Dress
Coat: Burberry Prorsum Hooded Raffia-Trimmed Linen Parka
Shoes: Alexander McQueen Satin T-Bar Sandals
Necklace: Alex Monroe 22-karat Rose Gold-Plated Bumblebee Necklace

//Lately I have been dreaming about a silk-chiffon dress billowing out under a kind-of masculine coat with strappy black stilettos and a simple necklace, something like the above. The small details like a good fit, contrasting materials or just a tiny, interesting pendant on a necklace can make all the difference (well as much difference as an outfit can make anyway).

//289/ Outfit 018

Shirt-Tibi  //  Skirt-Anna Sui
Sunglasses- Illesteva  //  Backpack-Pierre Hardy  //  Loafers-Prada

//Today it is overcast in Cape Town and this is what I would like to be wearing. It took me some time but I too have fallen for the Prada espadrilles with their wonderful platform.

//PS// I only recently discovered StyleDevil...take a look it's fantastic.

//280/ Outfit 017

//I bought this dress recently and it is very lovely. All these clashing yellows are a little bit ridiculous, but also very cool, kind of like an explosion of sunshine. I would. Dress from Mr Price, coat from Red Valentino, shoes from Asos, Sunglasses from Illesteva, bag from Prouenza Schouler. Hello Summer.

//264/ Dress: Outfit 016

Bag: Alexander Wang - Marti leather backpack

//Sometimes a beautiful dress such as this one by Chloé looks more interesting with some boots and a leather jacket...somewhat inspired by Anne Hatheway in One Day, or maybe even a little by Abbey Lee Kershaw's bohemian style.

//252/ Outfit 015

Top: Etro printed cotton-blend shirt
Bottoms: Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Printed satin-twill pants
Jacket: T by Alexander Wang Sandwashed-jersey track jacket
Shoes: Jil Sander Patent-leather platform sandals
Sunglasses: Prism New York mirrored D-frame acetate sunglasses

//Here is my -slightly more subtle- version of the clashing all-prints outfits that are everywhere. For me this is the perfect combination of too-cool and bad-taste. The thing is, there is a very fine line between bad taste that looks good, and bad taste that is...well just bad taste. It's extremely difficult to explain, but if you see a person that can pull off bad taste, you will understand (I will look for some examples).

//232/ Outfit 014

//I have been doing some downhill skating, and was thinking about how convenient it would be to have leathers that look good enough to wear for skating as well as for everything else I do. I think these Balmain pants would do. Here a comfy-chic look with a supercool pussy-cat Tee, a kitschy gloss blazer/cardigan and some nice ´n shiny sneakers.

//223/ Outfit 013

Tops: Miu Miu bow-embellished stretch-jersey T-shirt, Markus Lupfer Lara Lips cotton T-shirtTrenery pocket-front T-shirt
Skirt: Country Road print tie waist skirt
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Louisa suede platform sandals
Bag: Nancy Gonzales crocodile clutch
Sunglasses: Linda Farrow Luxe cat-eye frame snakeskin sunglasses

//I have taken it upon myself to incorporate more local clothing (ie. clothing available in South Africa) into my outfits, so here ya go: a beautiful country road print tie waist skirt. I usually find Country Road a little bland, to be frank, but lately they have been more adventurous and I believe it has paid off.

//Aaand then throw in a fiery red clutch for some drama, Jimmy Choo heels for some height, and cat-eye sunglasses for some sultriness and boom      you´ve got yourself a banging look.

//For the top I chose a T-shirt from Miu Miu, Markus Lupfer ooor if you want to stay loyal to local, Trenery. Wait a couple of seconds for the tops to change...it took me forever to make this!

//193/ Look 012

Jumper: Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci- Black satin pullover with flower crown print
Bottoms: Acne- Flex mid-rise skinny jeans
Jacket: Elizabeth & James- Goat hair and rabbit jacket
Shoes: Michael Kors- Block-heeled suede ankle boots
Sunglasses: Illesteva- Frieda round-frame acetate sunglasses
i-Phone sleeve: Miu Miu- crocodile-stamped patent-leather iPhone sleeve

//I loved Givenchy´s tacky Fall 2011 show (see below) and the panther jumper was one of my favourites. I think animal print T-shirts/jumpers are going to become a thing. Remember I was the one that said that ;) Anyway here is my best take on panther...

//185/ Look 011

Sunglasses: Prada-Butterfly-frame acetate sunglasses

//I don´t like outfits that are too obvious. I do like combinations of clothing that have you thinking...maaan I would never put that together but it definitely works. Outfits that require a deeper understanding of dress. Am I making any sense? At all? For instance, this could have been worn with a black or navy blouse and a matching clutch and heels, but that would be...predictable.

//To consolidate my point, take a look at The Man Repeller. While it may seem like she is just having a whole lot of fun, she most certainly masters the art of complicated dressing. To complete this outfit I would add a white blazer, which is kind of a trend right now.

//174/ Look 010

//My affinity for grey has not yet subsided, but here is a more colourful combination. And that is the laptop case I would have bought if I had €425 to spare. Since I don't I settled for a significantly more inexpensive, but almost equally attractive one from Jost.

//I could not decide on the top so I decided it was time to learn how to make a GIF. (Thanks Cath). Enjoy.

//PS: By now I think I would say the butterfly top is the best?

//166/ Look 009

Top: Alexander Wang- Cropped fine-knit wool sweater
Bottoms: Kelly Bergin- leather shorts
Sunglasses: Cutler and Gross- round-frame acetate sunglasses
Shoes: Pierre Hardy- buckle-fastening suede sandals
Lipstick: Mac Morange

//Quite frankly, I get nauseous at the sound of those two words "colour-blocking" these days, so I have taken a liking of abnormal severity to all shades of grey. Lightened up by some orange lipstick (granted, another trend that has been exhausted shamelessly) a mixture of various grey shades and textures can become quite appealing.

//The Mac Morange lipstick depicted above comes out somewhat reddish, so the best choice is really the Mac Pro Lipmix in orange which is quite simply irresistable (I would know, I have it smeared all over my white keyboard...)

//The Cutler and Gross sunglasses too are perfection: unlike other round-frame sunglasses they have a sleek timelessness about them that won't have you regretting them in a few months...

//152/ Look 008

Cuff: Roberto Cavalli, gold-plated swarovski crystal acorn cuff

//A friend of mine is hosting a Montecarlo-themed party, and I have been gathering some ideas. This may be a bit too much Gossip Girl and too little old-money oppulence, but it's a start. Out of interest I calculated the cost of this outfit: €5120 (=R 49 655 =$7 402 =£ 4 531 ). Looks like I will be improvising...

//125/ Look 005

Shoes: Theodora and Callum, Biarritz printed linen wedge sandals
Bikini: Mara Hoffman, Aztec-print balconette bikini
Sunglasses: L.G.R., Emma acetate sunglasses

//Here in Cape Town summer is somewhat reluctant in giving way to fall-much less to winter, thank goodness!- so why bother about thinking winter clothing just quite yet. Besides I know that most of you have your tickets booked to Thailand, Spain, Australia, in my case Berlin, or wherever else it is you are seeking warmth, so here's to an endless summer filled with bright colours, silk-blends and clashing prints...

//101// Look 003

Top: Giambattista Valli V-neck cashmere top
Pants: Fendi Leather motocross pants
Sunglasses: Persol Folding frame acetate sunglasses
Bag: Chapel Backpack
Boots: See by Chloé Derby lace-up leather boots

//Sometimes, actually most of the time lately, I really don't feel like wearing pretty dresses or skirts or generally concerning myself all that much with what I wear. But no, it is not an excuse to dress boringly. Some comfortable boots, interesting colours, contrasting textures and voilà something you can easily slip on for varsity or around town.
