//230/ Berlin: Colourful Memory

Oderberger Straße, Berlin

//To me the appearance of a place is more important than what it has to offer (no worries, I don´t apply the same criterium to people (!)...). The memory of this lunch is etched into my brain because of the beautiful bright colours that worked so well together...the food was less than memorable but that was kind of secondary to me. It may seem bizarre but it must derive from an desire to move in and see only spaces and things that are aesthetically pleasing...and places to take in food are no exception!

//228/ SS2012: Peter Pilotto

Peter Pilotto SS2012RTW

//Talking about tropical print, this is Peter Pilotto´s take on it. I like their more abstracted, aquatic feel, only enhanced by the wetsuit-like material and cut. Peter Pilotto is a fairly young designer-pair, that won Best Emerging Talent at the British Fashion Awards in 2009 and is currently short-listed for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2012 and has a strong celebrity-following (see Miranda Kerr in a Pilotto number below).

//Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate today!

//227/ Raquel for The New York Times

Publication: T Style Holiday Issue of `The New York Times´
Styling: Andreas Kokkino
Photography: Angelo Pennetta
Model: Raquel Zimmermann

//Prints are big right now (you could call them a `trend´ if you care to use that horrid word). More specifically, tropical prints are everywhere. We saw them at Altuzarra, at Dries Van Noten, at Dolce & Gabbana , in Vogue Australia, at Etro, Peter Pilotto, Prouenza Schouler, Marni, Preen, Carven, Stella McCartney, Nina Ricci and here in the holiday issue of the New York Times...like I said: everywhere.

//I love this editorial because you can feel the holiday-atmosphere about it. Raquel, pale, tall and lanky as she is, looks so entirely out of place in the Brazilian scenery that one can but assume that she is a holiday-maker: a New Yorker escaping the cold back home.

//226/ Streetstyle 032

Arts Building, University of Cape Town, Cape Town

//Somehow anything with an American, or even better British, flag on it is instantaneously cool. They´ve become popular to the point where the are almost...almost...corny, but I love them still. And a man in a hat always catches my attention, it just speaks of a certain level of intellect, don´t you agree? ;)

//224/ Cape Town: Olympia Café

Olympia Café, Kalk Bay, Cape Town

//A few days back, on a super rainy day (in the middle of summer?? bizarre!) my gorgeous cousin Ami and I decided to stop off at Olympia in Kalk Bay for a quick espresso before work. I love the mixture of print she is wearing here: a little heart-print dress and a polka-dot scarf. It was unfortunately too early for food at Olympia...a pity because their food is the best!

//223/ Outfit 013

Tops: Miu Miu bow-embellished stretch-jersey T-shirt, Markus Lupfer Lara Lips cotton T-shirtTrenery pocket-front T-shirt
Skirt: Country Road print tie waist skirt
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Louisa suede platform sandals
Bag: Nancy Gonzales crocodile clutch
Sunglasses: Linda Farrow Luxe cat-eye frame snakeskin sunglasses

//I have taken it upon myself to incorporate more local clothing (ie. clothing available in South Africa) into my outfits, so here ya go: a beautiful country road print tie waist skirt. I usually find Country Road a little bland, to be frank, but lately they have been more adventurous and I believe it has paid off.

//Aaand then throw in a fiery red clutch for some drama, Jimmy Choo heels for some height, and cat-eye sunglasses for some sultriness and boom      you´ve got yourself a banging look.

//For the top I chose a T-shirt from Miu Miu, Markus Lupfer ooor if you want to stay loyal to local, Trenery. Wait a couple of seconds for the tops to change...it took me forever to make this!

//222/ South African Beauty: Alexa Corlett

Vibrante Hong Kong
Publication: Woman Spain
Photography: Gregori Civera
Model: Alexa Corlett

//The  beautiful Capetonian model Alexa Corlett, was recently featured in an editorial in Woman Spain, shot in Hong Kong.  Alexa has risen to mini-stardom in a very short time and is sure to become one of the top models in the next year, given that that is what she is aspiring to. You can take a look at her Elite portfolio here...perfection much? ...if only she would refrain from tilting her head so far backwards!

//It´s that time of the year again: the best of the models get together to be photographed by a top photographer to create the Pirelli Calender. Here is an outtake of the 2012 calendar, shot in Corsica....magical!

//219/ Candid: Bianca Balti for Dolce Campaign

Filming of Dolce & Gabbana commercial in Portofino, Italy

//Here some candids from the Dolce & Gabbana shoot, the collection of which I wrote about here. I feel that the mood is right on spot, capturing the Italian summer feel and their boundless appetite for life. And who better to feature in the shoot than the gorgeous Monica Bellucci who at 47 still looks mindbogglingly youthful.
